Central Club Yearly Report

Fall Bus Tour and Annual Meeting On October 27, 2010 we toured three different farms in the Notre Dame and Bruxelles areas. Our annual meeting was at Café Bru in Bruxelles.

Dairy Day was held January 26, 2011 at Carman Community Hall in Carman MB. Again there was very good attendance from both producers and agribusinesses. A Dairy Day booklet containing awards info and advertising was handed out at the door. Speaker was Dr. Dan Undersander speaking on “Forage for Your Dairy Herd.” The Producer Panel shared “If I Knew Then What I Know Now.” Those producers were Herman Hueging of Aggies Holsteins, Curtis & Darren Hueging of Current Holsteins, Ed Friesen of Friescrest Holsteins and Brent Oswald of Cottonwood Holsteins.

Awards Night On April 15, 2011 at the Rathwell Community Hall there was a good attendance and all were entertained by magician Darcy Oake.

Judging Clinic There was an excellent turnout on April 30, 2011 at Raya Holsteins.

Central 4-H Dairy Open Show This show was held July 7, 8 & 9, 2011 at the Carman Country Fair. It was a fantastic experience. There was good participation at the Open Show on July 7th. The 4-H Club held their achievement on July 8th.

Barbecue We met at the Winkler Park on August 26, 2011 for a barbecue and then everyone enjoyed the pool after dinner. This event was well attended.

Fall Bus Tour and Annual Meeting On October 27, 2011 we plan to visit three farms - Friecrest Holsteins, Cottonwood Holsteins and Beauroc Dairy.  Two of these farms were participants in our producer panel at Dairy Day 2011. We will hold our annual meeting over the lunch in Steinbach.

Directors Activities Three directors meetings have been held. The Directors Dinner was held at Kelseys in Winnipeg.

The Central Manitoba Holstein Club continues to function in the Central region. Our highlight was a successful 4-H Club and Open Show. We hope this continues in the coming year. We are planning on Dairy Day for January 25, 2012 and have booked Dr. Gerard Kramer to speak on cow handling.
